GESE

Trinity GESE English exams – PON 2015

The Italian ministry of Education has special funding (PON) available to send students to the UK. The aim of the programme is to ‘improve the language skills of the students from vocational, technical and linguistic high schools to allow them to have better chances of employment and a better university career.’

Trinity’s GESE exams test the English speaking and listening skills of people whose first language is not English. They focus on building motivation and confidence in using English and enable students to chart their progress from beginner to proficiency

The exam consists of a 5-15 minute interview, depending on the exam level, with an external, certified examiner, during which the student must demonstrate his or her ability to have a conversation in English about topics he or she has prepared in advance. There are 12 exam levels which are designed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
